Did you know: Mahatma's movie distaste

Story goes that Mahatma Gandhi disliked cinema enough to have only watched two movies in his entire lifetime. He first watched Mission to Moscow (1943) because a show was arranged for him. The film was based on the memoirs of US ambassador to Russia Joseph Davies. Soon after this, the story goes, artist and art director Kanu Desai insisted on showing Gandhiji a Hindi film Ram Rajya. And that too for a reason. According to him, Gandhiji said: “I will have to see an Indian film as I have made the mistake of watching an English one.”
